Quoted at survey

About the reference station. Some properties don't need one; where one is required, what it costs depends on where it has to be mounted to see enough sky. We price that after the survey rather than guessing at it, so the number above doesn't move on you later.

Nothing is owed until after the survey. If a smaller machine fits your yard, we'll tell you and quote that instead.
Installation covers siting the dock, connecting the mower and reference station power supplies to your existing outlet, and full zone mapping — not just dropping a box off.
Warranty work and blade changes happen at your house. You never ship a mower anywhere.

Complex properties — heavy tree cover, long power runs, several separated zones — can run above this. The survey is where that gets settled, in writing.

Will it fit your yard?

The four numbers that decide it

Acreage alone doesn't answer this. These four do, and the last one rules out more machines in Florida than the other three combined.

Conservative capacity 0.5 ac Irregular mowing — the figure to size against on a yard with beds, obstacles or tree cover.
Best case 1.0 ac Systematic mowing, open ground with a clear view of the sky. Husqvarna's headline number.
Slope 45% Inside the boundary. 15% at the boundary itself — rarely a limit in Tampa.
Cut height 1 – 4″ Reaches the 3.5–4″ that UF recommends for standard St. Augustine. Most robots stop at 2.4″.

Why every mower publishes two capacity figures is explained in the Sizing Guide →

How it goes

Demo, survey, install

Four steps, and you can stop after any of them. Nothing is owed until the third.

01

Free demo at your property

We bring a running mower to your yard and put it on your grass. Around 45 minutes, no charge, no obligation, anywhere inside 60 miles of Tampa.

02

Site survey

We walk the property, check satellite sky view for EPOS, measure slopes and narrow passages, and find where the dock goes relative to your nearest outdoor outlet. This is what turns a price range into a fixed written number — and occasionally into "you want the 410 instead."

03

Installation

Dock sited, mower and reference-station power supplies connected to your existing outdoor outlet, reference station placed, boundaries and zones mapped in the app, cutting height set for your grass type, first cut supervised. Typically a half day. We're not electricians — if a new outlet is needed we'll tell you at the survey so you can have one put in first.

04

Then we stay reachable

Blades, firmware, seasonal height changes and warranty work — all house calls. Being the dealer is the point: there's no shipping, no queue, no third party.

Sound

62 decibels means nothing. This is what it means.

Decibels are logarithmic, so the numbers mislead. Every 10 dB is roughly a doubling of how loud something actually sounds to you — which makes a gas mower somewhere around seven times as loud as this machine, not thirty per cent louder.

In practice: it can run at seven in the morning on a Sunday and nobody files a complaint. You can hold a conversation standing next to it. And nobody needs ear defenders to be in the garden while the lawn is being cut — which is not something you can say about the alternative.

Automower figure is Husqvarna's published sound level. Comparison values are typical published ranges; gas walk-behind mowers are commonly cited at 85–95 dB(A) at the operator's ear.

Two figures that look wrong but aren't

The 410 and 420 are the same hardware underneath — same 5 Ah battery, same 84-minute run, same deck. What separates them is firmware: how the machine manages charge and how much ground it is licensed to cover. The 410 also takes 108 minutes to recharge against the 420's 54, which on a yard needing two runs a day matters more than the half-acre difference between them.

Why the 520H covers more on a shorter run

The 520H mows 75 minutes — less than either iQ — yet covers more ground. Professional machines are rated on a duty cycle rather than a single run: they work continuously to a schedule, so total area comes from hours per week, not minutes per charge.

Questions

What people ask about this one

Do you have to bury a wire?

No. The 420 iQ uses EPOS satellite positioning with a reference station, so the boundary is virtual and drawn in the app. Nothing is buried, nothing gets cut through by an aerator later, and changing the boundary is a two-minute job rather than a dig.

Will it scalp my St. Augustine?

Not at the right height. This machine cuts up to a full 4 inches, which covers the 3.5–4 inches UF recommends for standard St. Augustine cultivars. We set the height at installation for your grass type. It's also worth knowing that UF research found daily light trimming produced denser St. Augustine, not thinner.

What about all the oak cover in my yard?

Heavy canopy is the single most common reason a Tampa yard performs below its headline number — satellite positioning needs sky view. It usually still works, but the mower falls back to irregular patterns under the trees, which is why we size against the 0.5-acre figure rather than the 1-acre one. The survey is where we measure this rather than guess.

And if part of your property genuinely can't hold a satellite fix, that section doesn't have to be given up. The iQ Series still accepts a physical boundary wire, so a shaded zone can be set up the traditional way while the rest of the lawn runs wire-free. Wireless is the better answer nearly everywhere — but it isn't all-or-nothing, and a stand of mature oaks is exactly the case the wire option exists for.

Can it use a boundary wire instead of satellite?

Yes. Wire-free is what the iQ Series is built around and it's what we recommend, but the mower also supports a conventional buried boundary wire — either for the whole property or for one problem zone alongside virtual boundaries elsewhere. It's not the headline feature, it's the safety net, and it means a difficult corner of a yard doesn't rule the machine out.

Is it safe around children and pets?

The blades are small pivoting razors set well inside the body, and they stop when the machine is lifted or tipped. If you want the extra margin, the 410 iQ adds radar object detection — it's the one we point people toward when kids and dogs share the lawn.

What happens if someone takes it?

It has GPS tracking, an alarm and PIN protection, and it's useless to anyone else without the PIN. It's also a cellular-connected device, so you'll know where it went.

Can I buy just the mower and install it myself?

You can, and some people do. We'd rather sell you a working lawn than a box, so our pricing assumes we install it — but if you're confident with the survey and the dock siting, talk to us and we'll quote it that way.

Before you price it up

Manufacturer promotions and seasonal offers come and go, and we run our own from time to time. The installed price above is the standard one — call or ask and we'll tell you what's running right now.
